Corro-Protec powered anode rod

Water heater protection, rethought

Electric Anode Rods.Powered protection.

Add a Corro-Protec powered electric anode rod to a compatible tank water heater. It uses a titanium anode and a plug-in power supply to send a small current into the tank.

Compatibility and installation port are confirmed before installation. Not for tankless water heaters.

What corrosion does to a factory-installed anode

Factory rods consumed with corrosion. Your tank comes next.

This photo compares a factory-installed sacrificial anode after about 8–10 years with a brand new factory-installed sacrificial rod before water heater installation. With a Corro-Protec powered titanium anode, you won't have to worry about any corrosion on the anode or your tank during the life of your water heater.

How the system works

A small current. A different approach to tank protection.

Traditional sacrificial anode rods gradually deplete and need routine inspection and replacement. Corro-Protec instead uses a titanium anode connected to a plug-in power supply. The current is designed to help protect the inside of the tank without relying on a rod that is consumed over time.

No sacrificial depletion

It does not use a sacrificial rod that depletes and requires routine replacement.

What the manufacturer says it is designed to do

Address the inside of the tank—not just the symptoms.

Corro-Protec describes the rod as designed to help protect against internal tank corrosion, help eliminate sulfur odor in hot water, and reduce sediment, mineral buildup and scaling.

These are manufacturer claims, not a promise of a particular result. Performance may vary with heater, water quality and use.

Manufacturer estimate

Up to $40/year

Estimated energy savings after the first year, according to Corro-Protec materials.

This is an estimate, not a guaranteed reduction in bills. Actual results vary by water heater, water quality and household use. The manufacturer also notes that the system itself uses energy.

Compatibility comes first

Many tank types. One important exception.

Manufacturer materials describe Corro-Protec as compatible with many water-heater brands and tank materials, including electric, gas, heat-pump, solar and geothermal tank heaters. They also list water-treatment systems, softened or hard water, and well or city sources.

Model, tank configuration and available installation port must be checked before booking. Compatibility is not assumed from heater type alone.

Installation options

The right port matters as much as the right model.

The standard installation uses a dedicated anode port. Some Bradford White tanks may use an alternate hot-water-outlet installation option. We check the tank and port before confirming compatibility.

Alternate port on some tanks

Some Bradford White tanks may use an alternate hot-water-outlet option. Availability depends on the exact tank.

Product details

Warranty and certification—read the model details.

The manufacturer advertises a 20-year limited product warranty. Its materials state that listed models 96386, 96387 and 96388 were tested and certified by the Water Quality Association against NSF/ANSI/CAN 372. The manufacturer also describes the product as compatible with water-heater warranties under U.S. MMWA law.

Warranty coverage and certification are subject to the applicable manufacturer terms and exact model. Water-heater warranty coverage depends on the heater manufacturer’s terms; confirm the details for your specific unit.
